Learning The Basic Lighting Setups

It was good to get to grips this week with the basic lighting setups and their uses in the studio photography. Although most of it was relatively basic it was useful to see how they all worked using professional equipment we have at university and to hear the tips for doing doing them in industry.

Notes from class:

The five main lighting formats examined:

  1. Key light set up
  2. leap lighting
  3. split lighting
  4. fill lighting
  5. rim lighting

As a class we went through examined these, creating photographs for each of these. This has very well laid the basis for the way in which we will work and gain the critical understanding for our future careers.
